Brown rice is the most fundamental Japanese superfood. The foundation for culture, community, and wellbeing.
RICE GIRL hand-selects organic rice varietals from across the Japanese countryside, according to the traditional calendar of 24 seasons across the year. The varietals are chosen and blended to resonate with the characteristics of each season that lasts approximately 15 days. Along with the seasonal brown rice blend, preparation recommendations, as well as a description of the microseason are included in every delivery.
As you might be with coffee beans and wine, Kiki Musubi's goal is for you to become a discerning rice consumer, enjoying rice for all of its varying notes, textures, and uses.
Kiki Musubi's rice is pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer free, and sun-dried just as is it should be. It is truly a labor of love. Straight from the Japanese countryside to wherever in the world you might be.
MOMOKO NAKAMURA, RICE GIRL
RICE GIRL is Japan’s natural rice farming conservationist. Advocating to safeguard and shed light on the traditional approach to rice farming.
She is often found roving the Japanese countryside, meeting with those who opt to farm using traditional natural methods. Rice that is grown without the use of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and sun-dried just as it should be. It is truly a labor of love. This farming style respects our Mother Earth, and leans on the poetry that is the Japanese micro-seasonal calendar.
In supporting traditional Japanese natural farming, we vote for environmentally responsibility and cultural preservation. A positive vote for our global society. Rice farmers can continue to choose this farming style, so long as we continue to increase demand.
RICE GIRL has training rooted in traditional Japanese eating practices and macrobiotics, is an enthusiastic consumer of the food memories and kitchens of our Japanese grandmothers, and just simply wholly in love with rice.
From the hundreds of varietals and farming regions across Japan, RICE GIRL hand-selects rice and creates seasonal blends to celebrate each micro-season for Kiki Musubi.
